Wood carving intangible cultural heritage inheritor
Cao Huangsheng

In over thirty years of carving art practice, he has devoted himself to extensive research and achieved fruitful results in many profound fields such as bamboo carving, wood carving, and brick carving.

Cao Huangsheng said that his artistic achievements benefited from the profound influence of Huizhou culture, the nurturing of the beautiful mountains and rivers of Huizhou, and the guidance of renowned masters. Years of hard work have made Cao Huangsheng particularly fond of Huizhou-style wood carving art.

The artistic value of Huizhou wood carving lies not only in its use as decorative elements in ancient Huizhou architecture, but also in its status as a complete work of art capable of existing independently.

Huizhou has been known as the hometown of Huizhou carving since ancient times. In this ancient village, which experts call a "museum of Ming and Qing architecture", there is the Huangshan City Huizhou Carving Research Institute, whose director is Cao Huangsheng, a Huizhou carving artist who was born and raised here.
