Zhang Hui
Furniture scholar Zhang Hui and Dayatang owner Zhao Qingtao
Expert consultant of the Rosewood Furniture Professional Committee, scholar of Ming and Qing furniture.
Zhang Hui graduated from the Department of Archaeology, History Department, Shandong University, and subsequently worked at the Hebei Provincial Museum and Hebei Education Press. After 1994, he worked as a planning and editing editor at several publishing houses in Beijing, and founded Beijing Ziduyuan Book Distribution Company.
He is the author of *The Mystery of Zeng Guofan* (Economic Daily Press), and the chief editor of *The Complete Works of Zeng Guofan* (China Zhi Gong Press), *A General History of China* (China Archives Press), *The Complete Collection of Famous Chinese Paintings* (Jinghua Press), and *Antique Collection Price Series* (Yuanfang Press), among other works. Since 2000, he has been engaged in the collection and research of Ming and Qing dynasty furniture and antique collectibles, and is currently a columnist for three professional art media outlets. He incorporates methodologies from archaeology, anthropology, iconography, and history into his furniture research.
In January 2017, I participated in the 7th China Rosewood Furniture Brand Conference held at the Hangzhou International Expo Center, the venue of the G20 Hangzhou Summit, and was appointed as an expert consultant.
In March 2017, I participated in the Zhongshan Red Wood Expo and served as a judge and award presenter for the "2017 Craftsmanship and Preservation of Art: The Most Beautiful Red Wood".
In April 2017, "A Study of Ming Furniture Patterns" was published.
In August 2017, I participated in the first China New Chinese Style Rosewood Furniture Conference held in Zhongshan Hongbo City.
In January 2018, he attended the 8th China Rosewood Furniture Brand Conference held at the Xiamen International Conference Center, the venue for the BRICS Summit, and was a forum guest at the second round of the "Belt and Road Initiative: Building a New International Landscape" forum.
In March 2018, I participated in the Zhongshan Red Wood Expo and served as a judge and award presenter for the "2018 Most Beautiful Red Wood Craftsmanship" and Red Wood Expo booth selection.
In August 2018, I attended the 2018 China (Zhongshan) New Chinese Style Rosewood Furniture Exhibition at Zhongshan Hongbo City and gave a presentation entitled "Successful New Chinese Style Works and the Inheritance of Ming Style Furniture" at the 2018 China New Chinese Style Rosewood Furniture Expert Thematic Lecture.
In January 2019, he attended the 9th China Rosewood Furniture Brand Ceremony at the Yanqi Lake Conference Center in Beijing and served as the award presenter for the 2018 China Rosewood Furniture "Red Product Award". He also participated in an in-depth discussion on the theme of "Embracing the New Era in the New Decade of Rosewood" at the 9th China Rosewood Furniture Brand Forum.
In October 2021, I was invited to attend the first Qiaoduotiangong Rosewood Culture Festival held in Shandong and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Looking at the Development Trend of Ming and Qing Furniture from the Perspective of Case Types".
In April 2022, I spoke out for "Masterpieces of a Great Nation," a high-end and authoritative program initiated by the brand mahogany and Tencent Home | Beike through strategic cooperation, and jointly promoted by the Art Mahogany Furniture Professional Committee of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce's Private Cultural Relics and Artworks Chamber of Commerce.
In February 2023, I was invited to attend the 13th China Rosewood Furniture Brand Summit.
