Tea box height: 10cm, mouth diameter: 15cm, saucer diameter: 11.5cm

Three pieces of vermilion lacquer tea utensils with maki-e enamel decoration, and a round tea and snack box with a vermilion base lacquered and decorated with golden maki-e cherry blossoms and weeping willows, depicting a graceful spring scene. The rim is wrapped with silver for added durability and practicality. A pair of saucers are also included, with a lightly lacquered surface and a vermilion base decorated with gold-filled maki-e enamel flowers, trees, and strange rocks. The other saucer depicts a rushing stream with waves crashing against rocks, conveying a sense of dynamism.
Maki-e is one of the lacquerware techniques that originated in the Nara period. It involves adding gold and silver flakes to lacquer liquid, and then polishing it after it dries to reveal its gold and silver luster, making it extremely luxurious. Sometimes, mother-of-pearl and silver wire are used to inlay flowers, birds, insects, or auspicious patterns.
