The crafting of various elegant scholar's objects from bamboo has been a favorite among scholars since ancient times, especially during the Ming and Qing dynasties. This tea cabinet is made of rosewood imitating the bamboo's texture, with a delicate and smooth finish. The front and sides are made of boxwood with rounded latticework, employing a mortise and tenon joint structure with perforations—a complex and highly difficult technique. The cabinet has two drawers at the bottom, with drawer fronts featuring begonia-shaped openings, also crafted using the same technique.
The top is balustraded with marble and can be used to display tea sets, making it quite practical. The overall shape, wider at the bottom than the top, with a well-proportioned curve, adds to the piece's charm. The legs are reinforced with aprons, demonstrating a robust structure. The materials used—reddish-brown rosewood—complement the lighter-colored boxwood and marble, creating a striking contrast and enhancing its unique character.
