The Wanli cabinet is crafted from Zambian rosewood, with a rich array of precious stones inlaid on its deep, dark wood surface, including mother-of-pearl, lapis lazuli, turquoise, Shoushan stone, Suji stone, and jade. The craftsmanship is exquisite. The left door features plum blossoms, while the right door depicts magnolias, their fragrance filling the air, the leaves and flowers flowing gracefully, and two birds echoing each other. The cabinet doors are inlaid with rectangular panels and hinges, decorated with chrysanthemum petals, and can be locked.
The piece is elegant and noble, with vibrant colors such as yellow, blue, cyan, white, green, pink, and ochre that are refreshing and auspicious. It is excellent in form, craftsmanship, material, and charm.
The magnolia flower pattern is stunning, the tree is filled with fragrance, the flowers and leaves are fully extended and swaying in the wind, and a golden bird perches there, symbolizing good fortune. The magnolia flower represents purity and nobility, conveying pure, sincere, eternal, and childlike emotions. It is not only elegant and noble but also brimming with auspicious wishes.
The Wanli Cabinet appeared during the Wanli period of the late Ming Dynasty, and later generations named it "Wanli Cabinet" after the reign title.
