Double-layered carrying box made of rosewood/white rosewood with dragons holding longevity symbols
Vessel Type: Double-layered box with dragon and longevity motif
Artist: dayatang
Material: Burmese white rosewood Dalbergia cochinchinensis
Specifications :
Length : 34cm, Width : 20cm, Height : 23cm
The carrying box, as a container for holding items, is a typical example of "small but great". Although it is small in size, its structure and production are consistent with the design philosophy of Chinese architecture, and it was called "the architecture within architecture" by our ancestors.
Just like this box, the entire box body is made of mortise and tenon joints, which are exquisitely crafted and the joints are precise. Its shape, apart from the box body, is the most traditional beam and column structure in Chinese architecture, giving people a dignified and stable feeling.
Made from Burmese white rosewood, small-leaf sandalwood, and large-leaf rosewood inlaid with boxwood, the exquisite dragon relief carving runs from top to bottom across the entire box surface, showcasing its beautiful and magnificent wood grain. The handle is subtly textured with a curved pattern, creating a sense of graceful curves, while auspicious carvings adorn both sides of the handle. Copper ornaments are inlaid at the four corners of the piece, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and its sturdiness.
From food containers to elegant playthings in scholars' studies, the small carrying box satisfies people's dual needs for material and spiritual fulfillment. Within its own little world, it is restrained, serene, and possesses its own universe.
