This set of shadow-carved bell cups was made by Xu Zhijun, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Jingdezhen hand-painted porcelain techniques.
The celadon glaze is like the sky after rain, crystal clear and warm, with a bluish hue where the glaze has accumulated. It is pure, clear, and rich in tonal variations. It feels smooth and firm to the touch, and produces a clear, melodious sound when tapped.
The chrysanthemum petal-shaped mouth originated in the Tang Dynasty and was popular during the Five Dynasties, Song, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties. It was also produced in the Qing Dynasty. The vessel's shape features well-defined, regular, and consistent ribbed patterns, creating a three-dimensional and beautiful form.
The cup is decorated with gold trim around the rim and foot, and stands tall and graceful. The slightly flared spout makes it perfect for holding and drinking.
