Mr. Fang Lipin was a disciple of Wu Yungen.
An 80-year-old gentleman recalls his apprenticeship at the age of sixteen:
"It's so tough... In summer, fans are forbidden, even if it's unbearably hot! In winter, fires are forbidden! Zisha pottery is a product of the local climate, so fans are absolutely not allowed..."
Teacher Wu Yungen is amazing! He always says the opposite of what he means: if he says your teapot is "good," you have to redo it, or he'll smash it. But if it's good, he won't say anything at all.
...Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, he is eighty years old. His hands tremble, and he does less, but Mr. Fang's eyes are still very discerning!

Square-shaped Zisha teapots are relatively rare, and classic hexagonal ones are even rarer. One key reason is that square Zisha teapots are more difficult to make than round ones, often considered equivalent to three round ones. The treatment of the corners in a square teapot is paramount in expressing its character, especially the handling of obtuse angles and large rounded corners, which requires exceptional experience. This hexagonal pear-shaped teapot is one of the most difficult Zisha teapot styles to create, requiring a high level of skill from the maker to organically integrate curved and flat surfaces. Despite its considerable size, this hexagonal pear-shaped teapot does not appear crude. Close up, its creation appears casual and natural, as if crafted effortlessly; from a distance, the entire piece is well-proportioned and elegant, seemingly perfectly formed by nature itself. The craftsmanship represents the pinnacle of Zisha teapot artistry.
