This diamond-shaped design originated in the Tang Dynasty and was popular during the Five Dynasties, Song, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties, with some pieces also produced in the Qing Dynasty. The shape is inspired by the morning glory flower found in nature. The ribbed texture is well-defined, regular, and consistent, exhibiting a neat, beautiful, and rhythmic quality. The color is coral red. Designed by Zhang Jian, a master of overglaze enamel and gold-leaf technique from Jingdezhen, only six pieces have been made to date.
