Vessel Type: Gaiwan/Cup
Artist: dayatang
Material: Porcelain )
Specifications: Diameter: 10.2cm; Overall height: 10cm capacity 180ml (Capacity)
The "Sacrificial Blue and Gold-Painted Three Talents" covered bowl was made by Xu Zhijun, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Jingdezhen hand-painted porcelain techniques.
Sacrificial blue, also known as "sapphire blue," has a glaze color as blue as the deep sea. The glaze surface is smooth, without running or cracking, and the color tone is uniform and stable. It truly embodies the saying, "The colors of the setting sun scatter without leaving a trace, and the sky emerges with a clear blue after the rain." The raw body is glazed and fired once at a high temperature of 1280-1300℃.
Because of its bright, gem-like appearance, sacrificial blue glaze was ranked alongside white and red glazes as one of the three "superior" types of glazed porcelain during the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty.
This sapphire blue covered bowl is hand-painted with gold leaf, featuring a combination of patterns such as lotus scrolls, ruyi (a type of scepter), bats, and swastikas. Each pattern carries a special auspicious meaning, representing happiness, longevity, health, peace, and all blessings.
