This chair is a modified version of the original: a huanghuali (Chinese rosewood) official's hat chair with cranes and deer symbolizing spring, included in Zhang Jinhua's *Ming-style Furniture of Yangzhou*, p. 88. This chair shares the same structure and shape as the traditional Suzhou-style official's hat chair with four protruding ends, but is more exquisite and ornate. The backrest is made of mortise and tenon joints, divided into three sections. The upper section features a hand-carved crane holding a peach in its beak, while the middle section depicts a deer with a lively and graceful expression. The lower section features a dragon with its head turned back, seemingly recounting a legendary tale. The seat is woven rattan.
