Tibetan Six-Year-Old Tea Canister with Chrysanthemum Design, "Fragrance Lingers Even in Dreams"
Height: 10cm, Maximum diameter: 10cm
Translation:
People say all flowers are beautiful, but I call tea the king.
A cup of tea cleanses the lungs and leaves a lingering fragrance even in dreams.
Inscription: Zang Liusheng
This tin tea caddy features a flat-topped, round lid, high shoulders, an arched belly that tapers towards the base, and a small circular foot, giving it a full and rounded shape. The belly is engraved with a knife, depicting the story of Tao Yuanming's love of chrysanthemums: an elderly man with a long beard holds a bamboo basket filled with the fragrance of flowers and fruits, and two butterflies flutter about. The lid is also engraved with two chrysanthemums, evoking the idyllic scene of "picking chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, gazing leisurely at the southern mountains."
Chrysanthemum is one of the Four Gentlemen of Flowers, blooming when all other flowers have withered, and is a symbol of nobility and longevity. On the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, Chinese folklore often uses chrysanthemums to brew wine, believing that drinking chrysanthemum wine can bring health and longevity. Therefore, chrysanthemums often represent "longevity" in various auspicious patterns.
