Strange silence, pure silver plated with gold
Author: Dayatang
Volume: Approximately 1000 ml Weight: Approximately 500 grams
This piece is entirely handmade, with a pure silver body, lid, and iron handle all encased in silver. The workmanship is achieved through hammering with special tools, creating the textured surface of a pure silver teapot reminiscent of an iron kettle. Special processing techniques further enhance the weathered and aged look of the piece.
The intentional imperfections in the design of this teapot appear natural and rustic, interpreting the serene aesthetics of tea ceremony in a unique way.
The term "Tathāgata" originates from the Three Marks of Existence in Buddhism (Theravada), especially impermanence.
Tōsaku describes the beauty of imperfection, the beauty of impermanence, the beauty of simplicity and unpretentiousness, and the beauty of tranquility.
With a weathered yet warm texture, the lid and spout of the sterling silver teapot are decorated with pure gold, and the iron handle is wrapped in silver.
This design style was favored by the owner of Dayatang, who commissioned Li Fuming, an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, to create it. Only two pieces of this design were ever made.
