Weight: 276 grams, Volume: 300 ml
The dragon and phoenix mouth gilded pure silver teapot is made of 9999 pure silver and is entirely handmade from a single piece. Such a piece, except for the handle and lid, uses only one piece of gold and silver for the rest of the teapot. It is not fused together, but made by meticulous hammering. It is quenched 40 times and forged 150,000 times, which is a difficult and complicated process.
The lid and one side of the teapot are engraved with a dragon as the main motif and clouds as the secondary motif, depicting the dragon dancing and galloping among the clouds. The dragon and cloud pattern symbolizes the power of nature. Clouds follow the dragon, and wind follows the tiger. The other side is engraved with a phoenix dancing in the heavens. The engraving technique on this teapot is exquisite, and the handle is woven from old vines, revealing grandeur within a small space.
The cloud and dragon motif first appeared on Tang and Song dynasty porcelain, such as the cloud and dragon patterns on various Yue ware vases from the late Tang and Five Dynasties period, and the dragon patterns coiling and dancing amidst auspicious clouds on Song dynasty Ding ware printed plates. Cloud and dragon patterns became even more common on porcelain from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The phoenix, a divine bird, is the head of all birds. With dragon markings on its back, a tortoise shell, a swallow's jaw, and a chicken's beak, it possesses all five colors and is the most beautiful of all feathered creatures. When it flies, hundreds of birds follow, making it a bird of good fortune.
