In 1894, British craftsmen George Nathan and Ridley Hayes created a tea caddy with gilded relief floral and figure designs. It is cylindrical with a full, round lid. The interior is gilded, and the exterior is fully decorated with high-relief floral patterns. The hemp surface is decorated with asymmetrical acanthus leaves and floral patterns. The flowers and leaves are arranged in an orderly manner. At the center of the lid is a butterfly-shaped fairy with double wings. The figure is plump and seems to be flying among the flowers, which is lively and elegant.
The engraving technique is exquisite and unparalleled. The four silver markings are clear and intact.
