The hexagonal Siting teapot originates from the traditional Zisha (purple clay) teapot shape. The Siting teapot appeared in the early Qing Dynasty and became a conventional style during the Qianlong era. The hexagonal Siting teapot, made in the autumn of the Qing Dynasty by Hengxing, appeared in the early Qing Dynasty.
This hexagonal Siting teapot, produced by Dayatang, was made by Hong Jike, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage. The teapot is pear-shaped with a hexagonal spout, a ring-shaped handle, a tall lid, and a beaded knob with a central air hole. It adds ridges to the traditional Siting teapot style, giving it a balance of roundness and squareness, strength and gentleness. The ebony handle is heat-resistant, and the jade knob adorns the top. The body of the teapot is plain. The sulfur treatment removes any ostentation, adding a touch of warm, antique elegance.
