Earthen jar-shaped silver pot with side handle
Earthen jar-shaped silver pot with side handle
Volume: Approximately 270 ml Weight: 170 g
This earthenware jar-shaped silver teapot with a side handle was personally crafted by Hong Jike, a master potter and inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of silver forging. The term "side-handled teapot" is used today; in ancient times, it was called a "diaozi," a vessel used for warming wine, decocting medicine, and brewing tea. It has existed since the rise of tea drinking in the Tang Dynasty, with the vessel used for brewing tea being called a "cha diao." Its unique design, with a handle shaped like a grip, effectively avoids scalding the hands during brewing, making it easy and convenient to use. This teapot has an elegant, antique shape, a rounded body, understated hammered patterns, a simple, short spout, a straight and unadorned wooden side handle, and a stable knob, all possessing a Tang Dynasty charm.
