Zambian Bloodwood Southern Official's Hat Chair
Zambian Bloodwood Southern Official's Hat Chair
Vessel Type: Southern Official's Hat Chair
Artist: dayatang
Material: Zambian Bloodwood
Specifications : Seat Width : 59cm; Seat depth : 48.5cm; Seat Height :50cm; Overall height : 114cm
This chair is made of Zambian bloodwood, with a reddish-purple color and clear, beautiful wood grain. Its high backrest is elegantly shaped, and both the craftsmanship and materials are exquisite. A distinctive feature is the cloud-patterned carving above the three-curved backrest, which extends to a pointed top, adding a touch of gentle grace to the entire piece.
The top rail is joined to the rear legs at both ends with mortise and tenon joints resembling tobacco pipes, and the armrests are constructed in the same way as the front legs. The armrests curve outwards, creating an inclusive effect, supported by three curved reinforcing rods that are thinner at the top and thicker at the bottom. The seat is a hard seat with arched aprons on three sides, with delicate and flowing lampwick lines along the edges. A cute little flower bud hangs from the center of the arched opening on the front. The four legs are slightly splayed, with stepped stretchers between them. A knife-shaped apron is added under the front footrest stretcher for reinforcement. The structure is rigorous and simple, paying homage to Ming-style furniture.
