Length: 24cm, Width: 30cm, Height: 4.5cm

Guests come to the woods, to the fragrant pavilion amidst the water and rocks.
This rectangular tea box features a landscape painting of a hermit with a landscape rendered using the Shen Jin technique on a black lacquered background. The thatched cottage, distant mountains, and pine needles are depicted realistically, making it elegant and beautiful.

Shenjin, also known as Chenjin, involves carving gold lines and dots on lacquerware and embedding the gold into the carving. It requires a special Shenjin knife for carving lacquer surfaces to create recessed patterns on the polished lacquer surface.
