The tea box is made of black lacquer, smooth as a mirror. It is decorated with a pine tree painted using the maki-e technique, with swaying bamboo below and plum blossoms blooming in the cold, depicting the "Three Friends of Winter" (pine, bamboo, and plum).
The teahouse features chrysanthemum patterns painted on a vermilion lacquer floor using the Wajima gold-leaf technique. The tabletop is flat and glossy with red lacquer. All four facades are carved into begonia shapes to allow light to pass through, and the corners are polished rounded.
