Begonia wood handle mercury kettle
Volume: Approximately 900 ml Weight: Approximately 540 grams
This begonia-shaped wooden-handled mercury kettle is a product of Dayatang Intangible Cultural Heritage and was personally made by Hong Jike, a master potter and inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of silver forging.
The jade chrysanthemum petal knob and the rosewood ruyi-shaped handle are designed to prevent burns, showcasing the ingenuity of the craftsman.
The body of the teapot is engraved with crabapple blossoms. Crabapple flowers are elegant and graceful, blooming in profusion, and have been a popular flower appreciated by all since ancient times, earning them the titles of "fairy among flowers," "noble concubine among flowers," and "most esteemed flower." Literary figures throughout history have written countless poems about them, and even the great writer Su Dongpo was captivated by them, writing, "I fear the flowers will fall asleep in the deep night, so I burn a tall candle to illuminate their red beauty." Thus, the crabapple is affectionately known as the "flower that understands words."
Hong Jike (1971b.), a Bai ethnic minority, learned the traditional crafts of gold, silver, and copper handicrafts from his father from a young age. He is a state-level inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of silver forging and a master of arts and crafts in Yunnan Province.
