A set of six 19th-century French porcelain tea cups and saucers decorated with gilded floral and herb designs. The cups and saucers are decorated with gilded acanthus leaves and roses, a classic European motif, exuding elegance and grandeur.
Each set includes a pair of gilded enamel teaspoons with elegant, slender handles and enamel-coated surfaces in blue, white, and green, creating a refined and beautiful effect. The cups, saucers, and teaspoons complete a luxurious afternoon tea set.
AUX LIONS DE FAIENCE, a French porcelain brand, is located at 90 Rue de Rivoli, one of the most famous streets in Paris. In the 19th century, when European porcelain technology was not very advanced, only royalty and nobility could afford pure white porcelain. Therefore, artisans devoted considerable effort to decorating the fired porcelain, with each cup and saucer meticulously hand-painted with gold leaf by professional artists. The gold-painted floral teacup, in shades of pink, green, and rose, combined with the hand-painted gold detailing, exudes a rustic yet luxurious charm.

teaspoon:

Six antique British sterling silver gilt enamel spoons, with original box. Enamel originated in Europe and is a translucent porcelain enamel. In England a century ago, the craftsmanship was highly advanced, producing spoons that gleam like new against a sterling silver background. The term "enamel" is a transliteration of "painted enamel," and because enamel has a porcelain-like texture and a lustrous, jade-like sheen, the technique was introduced to China by Western missionaries and merchants in the late 17th century. Due to the Qing imperial family's fondness for it, it was later introduced into the Chinese imperial palace.
