Konma (蒟醤) large lacquer box, made by the famous artist Tu Shijuroku. It features the unique lacquerware craftsmanship of Sanuki, Japan, with fine red patterns and is hand-painted, reminiscent of the style of Han Dynasty lacquerware.

Konjac lacquerware is a technique where patterns are carved onto a lacquered surface using a carving knife called a sword, then filled in with colored lacquer, and finally polished smooth. After all the color carving and lacquering work is completed, a unique surface polishing technique is used to create a beautiful and intriguing lacquerware piece.
