This burl wood tea caddy was originally made from burl wood personally selected by the owner of Dayatang, and commissioned to be made by Lu Xiaokan, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of tin carving.
The burl wood, carved from a single piece, exudes a rich aroma and perfectly showcases the texture of the burl, making each piece unique thanks to the artistry of nature.
The interior of the tea canister is entirely encased in tin, with the tin forming a natural, undulating shape at the joints with the wood, like wildly rolling waves wrapping around the tangled burl wood, tightly encasing the burl wood body of the canister.
Through the hands of non-hereditary inheritors, the burl wood gains a second life. The size, shape, and form of the burl wood tea jar follow the natural contours of the wood, and the life experience is presented through the softness and warmth of the object.
