Golden Gourd, Siting Silver Pot

Golden Gourd, Siting Silver Pot
Golden Gourd, Siting Silver Pot
Volume: Approximately 200 ml Weight: 150 g
This gold gourd-shaped silver teapot is a product of Dayatang Intangible Cultural Heritage and was personally made by Hong Jike, a master teapot maker and inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of silver forging.
This sterling silver teapot is inspired by the classic Yixing teapot shape, the Siting. The Siting, traditionally attributed to Lu Siting, has a gourd-like body with a curved spout extending upwards from the belly. The tall, open lid is tangent to the mouth, forming a complete vessel. The shape is graceful and elegant, full and refined, yet possessing a powerful strength. The lines throughout flow smoothly, with the three-curved spout rising gracefully; the high, upright pearl-shaped knob, adorned with jade and gold; and the round, ear-shaped wooden handle, designed to prevent burns, its curves measured and harmonious.
The body of the pot is engraved with gourd vine patterns, symbolizing lasting good fortune. The gourd is gilded and inlaid with red copper.
The gourd, a homophone for "good fortune and prosperity," is a symbol of wealth and honor. Because it is a herbaceous plant, its stems are called "vines." The word "vine" is a homophone for "ten thousand," and "vines" is a homophone for "ten thousand generations." Therefore, "good fortune and prosperity" and "ten thousand generations" together constitute the complete blessings of "fortune, prosperity, and longevity," making it a symbol of good luck.
